For any Ghostbusters fan that’s an Amazon Prime member, you’ll want to check out the streaming service as over 100 slime-soaked episodes of the classic cartoon, The Real Ghostbusters, were just added!
This news is likely to sound familiar to some, as the series was previously streaming for Amazon Prime members but was removed, being replaced with the options of only buying or renting individual episodes or seasons.
It should be noted that the Prime availability appears to be only for those within the United States, and while there are a lot of episodes to enjoy, it’s not the entire series, with omissions seen in much of the later seasons, including:
Transcendental Tourists, Trading Faces, Slimer’s Curse, Till Death Do Us Part, Kitty-Cornered, If I Were A, Witch Man, It’s About Time, Jailbusters, Surely You Joust, Future Tense, Venk-Man,Loose Screws, Revenge of the Ghostmaster, Slimer Streak, The Ransom of Greenspud, The Haunting of Heck House, Ghostworld, Spacebusters, My Left Fang, Russian About, Deja Boo, Afterlife in the Fast Lane, Guess What’s Coming to Dinner, Very Beast Friends, The Treasure of Sierra Tamale, Not Now, Slimer!, Attack of the B-Movie Monsters, 20,000 Leagues Under the Street
Over the years, the series has been jostled around on various streaming services, most notably being added to Netflix back in 2017, only to be removed in 2019.
The official Ghostbusters YouTube channel continues to upload episodes of The Real Ghostbusters regularly, that while we do catalog, are only available to watch for a limited time.
When it comes to more animated adventures, as reported as part of this year’s Ghostbusters Day, Netflix and Ghost Corps, Inc are working on a new series that will see Ghostbusters: Afterlife’s director/co-writer Jason Reitman and producer/co-writer Gil Kenan serve as executive producers.
This series will mark the third animated Ghostbusters television show, with previous entries including the aforementioned Real Ghostbusters, which aired for 140 episodes between ABC and syndication from 1986-1991. In the fall of 1997, a follow-up series called Extreme Ghostbusters was introduced, airing for 40 episodes in syndication, continuing on the characters and stories introduced in the previous animated series.
